Calling all able designers!

We are looking for a couple people to help in the development of a game called ChessBots

Who are we? ArkAngelical Entertainment is ran by me, Dustin Henderson, with the aid from my wife, Teresa. Our mission in development is to develop games to bring the Good News to the world. We currently have a couple games being worked on, but our main focus right now is to get ChessBots developed and released to aid in funding the development of the more ambitious projects.

What is ChessBots? In short, a turn based strategy game that pits multiple players against each other. It is played with Bots that each have unique stats and abilities, and they are equipped with various equipment cards, ranging from weapons, to armor, to utility items.

How much is done right now? Since this is a game similar to that of a board game, currently, I have printed out cards with Bot's stats/abilities, and all of the equipment items that have been designed right now, and my wife and I play games at the table. This is to make sure that Bots and Equipment are balanced once we get to that stage of development. Balancing things out a head of time should cut down on development time, as balancing can take a long time to do.

What are my qualifications? I have been designing games for a few years now, but have not done enough with programming to actually build an engine or a game in full. With that said I do understand programming, and can read coding without getting confused. Currently I am going through several books to learn programming so I can contribute to the coding part of the games that are in development.

What are you looking for? Programmers and Artists are all I need. The programmer is the priority right now, the skills I am looking for are that they are familiar with creating a game that uses a profile type setting so that the game remembers what Bots and Equipment they have, familiar with creating AI for a computer opponent to intelligently react to the player's actions, and finally this game is intended to be played across the internet so I need a programmer that is familiar with creating a game for multiple people across the internet. How many programmers I need will be decided upon what the skills they have. For artists, we are currently going to be in 2D, but may move to 3D if it is a reasonable move to make, and that the benefits would be enough to justify the change.

What about compensation? We are calling out on a volunteer basis right now as we do not have any funding to be able to pay anyone, but we are hoping if things go well and the game gets released that we all can share in the profits of this endeavor.

And for the future? As I said before I have several projects on the table with ChessBots being the priority, so if you are comfortable working with me more and vice versa, I will be needing more help down the road. Also my plans for ChessBots are such that it will require updates so it is also open to continued work. No hard feelings will be had if you move on to other projects.
